SE/10882, Private, William Henry ROBINSON
Aged 36

19th Veterinary Hospital, Army Veterinary Corps
Died of his Wounds on Saturday 29th June 1918

There is however insufficient data to positively identify this man's family. The only clues come from "Soldiers Died" which tells us he was born in Lincoln and enlisted in Newmarket.
In the 1911 census there was a William Henry Robinson [29] a stableman, at 7 Ruse's Square, Exning Road, Newmarket, lodging with London born widow Sarah CAMERON [67] a laundress and her 30 years old daughter, Newmarket born Blanche Ethel CAMERON. His place of birth is given as Fishergate, York.
His "Soldier's Personal Effects" entry gives his sole legatee as Miss Blanche E.Cameron. Despite conflicting records of his birth, this does seem to be the most likely man

He was serving at 19 Veterinary Hospital, Frethuin, France, about 5 km SW of Calais.
Since Sangatte was the cemetery for the Calais area after 1917 and there were 5 major hospitals in the area, housing over 2,500 patients, it is unlikely the cause of death or where he may have been wounded or taken ill will ever be found. In fact the depot for the Veterinary Corps was not far from Sangatte.
From the entry on his medal card, his medals being returned at the end of 1921, it looks as if the Army could not trace his family either, despite an application for his medals in September of that year.
